Michelle Hughes

I have spent all of my career to date working within the higher education sector and my current role, at the University of York, focuses on the University’s strategy to ensure equality of opportunity for students from all backgrounds to access and succeed at University, as well as other equality, diversity and inclusion related activity. 

Outside of work I am interested in all things creative and have two children who are currently at Newlaithes. 

I joined the Governing Body in January 2021 as one of the Parent Governors, and since joining I have been fascinated to find out more about what goes on ‘behind the scenes’ and what is involved with the day-to-day running of a primary school. I have really enjoyed getting to know the staff and other Governors and am hoping to be able to support the school in working towards their goals.
